Summary

Shay Goldstein has been a producer at her Seattle public radio station for nearly a decade, and she can't imagine working anywhere else。 But lately it's been a constant clash between her and her newest colleague, Dominic Yun, who's fresh off a journalism master's program and convinced he knows everything about public radio。

When the struggling station needs a new concept, Shay proposes a show that her boss green-lights with excitement。 On The Ex Talk, two exes will deliver relationship advice live, on air。 Their boss decides Shay and Dominic are the perfect co-hosts, given how much they already despise each other。 Neither loves the idea of lying to listeners, but it's this or unemployment。 Their audience gets invested fast, and it's not long before The Ex Talk becomes a must-listen in Seattle and climbs podcast charts。

As the show gets bigger, so does their deception, especially when Shay and Dominic start to fall for each other。 In an industry that values truth, getting caught could mean the end of more than just their careers。

Very cute, very steamy!

This was a quick chick lit read, great escape while driving。 This author is a queen of steamy scenes - so make sure no children are nearby。 😄

This was a funny and heartwarming romance。 I loved the behind the scenes look at radio。 I really enjoyed Shay as the main character - she was very relatable。 Shay lost her father at a young age and has had the same job for 10 years。 She struggles with change, so when a hot-young-new guy starts working at her studio, she gets defensive。 Dominic (which is my brothers name, so that was really weird reading this book lol) thinks Shay hates him and it doesn't help that their boss wants them to start This was a funny and heartwarming romance。 I loved the behind the scenes look at radio。 I really enjoyed Shay as the main character - she was very relatable。 Shay lost her father at a young age and has had the same job for 10 years。 She struggles with change, so when a hot-young-new guy starts working at her studio, she gets defensive。 Dominic (which is my brothers name, so that was really weird reading this book lol) thinks Shay hates him and it doesn't help that their boss wants them to start a new show about being Ex's。。。when they've never dated。 So this book is an enemies to lover's situation - but it's cute, sweet, and sometimes a little steamy。 I also loved that Shay named her dog Steve Rogers and Dominic called him the "furriest Avenger" (swoon)。 If you love rom-com books, pick this one! 。。。more

This book was really sweet and well-written。 Shay and Dominic were interesting as a couple and definitely rooted for them to figure out their feelings for each other。 It was great to see a story with a Korean American guy that felt natural versus purposefully cast。

This was a disappointing one for me。 I loved Solomon's book Today Tonight Tomorrow, because the characters were so great and the banter was so witty! But this one just wasn't as good。 It started out with a lot of promise, but the banter felt pretty forced most of the time, and I didn't like Shay。 She was kind of pathetic。 She kept whining about how hard adulting is, over and over, even though she's 29。 At one point she complains that it's really hard for her generation, because everyone wants yo This was a disappointing one for me。 I loved Solomon's book Today Tonight Tomorrow, because the characters were so great and the banter was so witty! I grew up in the 90s too, and it just felt too forced and overdone, so I couldn't even enjoy it。 Anyway, I had a hard time caring about her relationship and work drama, because she got on my nerves。 Plus, I was looking forward to reading radio show parts, and there really weren't that many of them。 I was already skipping the sex scenes (I'm a fan of closed door romance), so then I was also skimming the repetitive inner monologue and adulting drama, so I basically skimmed the second half of the book just enough to find out that everything I predicted actually happened, the end。 I would read another YA by this author, but probably not another romantic comedy。 。。。more

3/5 ⭐I AM SO UPSET the premise of this was such a hook and at (what was my update? 14%?) I was LOVING IT my little romancy & obsessive & guilty pleasure personality was hooooked and then it went dowwwn hilll。。 not steamy enough。。 not enough grit with the *bad guy* 。。 not enough build up with her mom/new marriage and her friend skipping town!! There was so much potential and i think it fell flat 。 on 。 its 。 face im sad abt it

This book came in a subscription box from Once Upon a Book Club。 It's not something I would have picked for myself, but I did really enjoy it! It was a light enjoyable read。 You can tell from the details in story that the author really knows her stuff about public radio, and I think those small details help to tell a good story。 The writing style was nice, the story flowed very well。 I found myself drawn in pretty quickly。 This book came in a subscription box from Once Upon a Book Club。 It's not something I would have picked for myself, but I did really enjoy it! Loved the book, and especially loved the audiobook。 The whole public radio/podcast backdrop felt real to me。 I definitely could relate to the whole “so what are we really?” thing between Shay and Dominic。 The characters were people I wish I could meet, including the surrounding cast。 Looking forward to reading what Ms。 Solomon writes next。

Shay and Dominic are coworkers at a local NPR station。 Their working relationship is strained on a good day, antagonistic the rest of the days。 They are eventually thrust together to do a radio show。 The long hours and forced bonding lead them to see each other in a new light。For you lovers of enemies to lovers Rom-Coms, this is a must read but it's important to note that there are a few very steamy scenes 🔥For once the hype didn't kill the book for me。 I loved this more than i even expected。 Shay and Dominic are coworkers at a local NPR station。 Their working relationship is strained on a good day, antagonistic the rest of the days。 They are eventually thrust together to do a radio show。 The long hours and forced bonding lead them to see each other in a new light。For you lovers of enemies to lovers Rom-Coms, this is a must read but it's important to note that there are a few very steamy scenes 🔥For once the hype didn't kill the book for me。 I loved this more than i even expected。 。。。more

“And damn if those NPR voices aren’t still the most soothing journalistic lullaby”Shay and Dominic are colleagues who are constantly clashing, but join forces to debut a new Seattle public radio program / podcast called “The Ex Talk” where they pretend to be exes - but in reality, they are actually falling for each other in real time。 This contemporary romance novel felt current, cute and smart - something I desperately needed in my reading right now。 The dialogue was believable, the characters “And damn if those NPR voices aren’t still the most soothing journalistic lullaby”Shay and Dominic are colleagues who are constantly clashing, but join forces to debut a new Seattle public radio program / podcast called “The Ex Talk” where they pretend to be exes - but in reality, they are actually falling for each other in real time。 This contemporary romance novel felt current, cute and smart - something I desperately needed in my reading right now。 The dialogue was believable, the characters were like able but flawed, and I loved all of the references to NPR and local public radio - including Philly’s own Terry Gross of Fresh Air。 Such a fun read。 It took me a little while to get into it but after the first 75-80 pages, I was sold on Shay and Dom。 。。。more

4。5/5 - the Ex Talk lived up to the to hype & I loved it so much! It reminded me of a cross between the Hating Game & Spoiler Alert。 The banter between Shay & Dominic was great and I loved the progression of the story。 It was a litttleee too slow of a burn but loved it none the less。

4。5 stars! Super cute and super fun! Dominic and Shay are perfectly real and flawed。 I loved how you got to see their relationships with friends and parents as well as with each other

SweetJust what I needed to read after a stressful week。 Rom coms are predictable (it’s why they’re relaxing), but the banter is what elevates some from good to great。 This one is pretty close to great。

Well, I loved this book, way more than I was expecting too。 It had a lot of the things I loved about One to Watch but I felt the romance was much better in this book。 The narrative was so well done and kept me hooked the entire time。 So much fun。 I really hope this author writes more adult romances。

I really liked this book, but that's also because I have a thing for the enemies-to-lovers trope。 The plot was a little too slow for me but I get that we really have to have all the info about everyone first before diving into the real romance story。 It was a refreshing read!4 out of 5 stars! This was a fun, easy read and I liked the chemistry between Dominic and Shay。 However, ultimately, I was more interested in their radio show premise more than the people in it。
